CHESAPEAKE BAY

One of our promises to ourselves (and to the kids) was that if we moved back to Virginia, we’d do as many day and short weekend trips as we could to see things in the mid-Atlantic and Northeastern areas of the USA. COVID obviously means we aren’t doing indoor activities or hotel stays yet, but thankfully the outside is still totally fine!

Another family goal of ours is to hit at least the lower 48 – if not all 50 – states before our kids are too old to be able to travel with us anymore. We realized when calculating up our states that some of our kids couldn’t yet cross off Maryland. As we live…I don’t know, maybe 15 minutes? from the MD/VA border, we decided to rectify that, too.

First up for us: the Chesapeake Bay. We visited Sandy Point State Park and had a lot of fun.

A Few Scenes from the Beach

We went to Orange Beach, Alabama in the beginning of October, and it was absolutely gorgeous. There’s something so refreshing about seeing the ocean. Sitting in the sand, and feeling that breeze on your face…mmmm.

Even the pier was pretty at night.
